Small Business 2025: Expert on the Main Challenges and Opportunities

We talked to business consultant Andris Ozols about what awaits small businesses in the coming years and what steps will help them withstand in the market.

In the context of rapid changes, small businesses face many challenges: digitalization, competition, talent shortage. To gain insight, we asked consultant Andris Ozols, who has been in the market for over 15 years.

Question 1: What is most important for small businesses today?

A.O.: “The most important thing is financial transparency and understanding your customers. Without these two things, the company becomes blind.”

Question 2: How has the market changed after the pandemic and crises?

— Small companies have learned to be flexible. Those who adapt quickly are winning: implementing online sales, optimizing processes, working with data.

Question 3: What risks will be most acute in 2025?

— The main threats: rising labor costs, tightening tax requirements, and supply instability. All of this requires constant strategy revisions.

Question 4: Are there new opportunities?

— Yes, of course. First, there are government support programs. Secondly, open digital markets: any company can sell its services beyond the country's borders.

Question 5: What do you recommend to entrepreneurs?

  1. Invest in digital tools.

  2. Keep track not only of revenues but also of expenses at the level of each operation.

  3. Don’t be afraid of outsourcing and partnerships.

“Business is not a sprint but a marathon. The one who knows how to distribute their strength and look 10 years ahead wins.” — A. Ozols

Small business in 2025 faces challenges, but with the right strategy, they transform into new opportunities. The key is openness to change and systematic thinking.
